One week after our Verliga workshop, we head to Mt. Tymfi to photograph the iconic Dragonlake under the night sky. This three-day experience combines hiking, theory, practice, and advanced astrophotography techniques in a wild alpine environment.
Itinerary
10/7 Meet at parking spot at Mikro Papigo
We'll meet at Mikro Papigo on a small parking spot which you can find here. After preparing our stuff, along with our mountain guide, we'll start our hike towards the mountain hut Astrakas. The hike is beautiful and showcases the beauty of Tymfi mountain range. It's very important to know that the mountain hut is not a hotel and we have to respect all the rules that they will inform us about.
Accommodation is provided at the Astrakas mountain hut. Beds are available, but participants must bring a sleeping bag. The accommodation fee (€36) is non-refundable in case of cancellation. The hut provides food, water, coffee and breakfast. Snacks are recommended during hikes.
Because of our long hike, we'll spend the first night with the theoretical lesson and capturing the night sky near the mountain hut.
11/7 Photo critic, visit the Dragonlake (1.5h hike)
We can start the day slowly with breakfast and coffee while enjoying the amazing alpine views. You have a lot of free time to relax or go on a short hike. On midday after lunch we're gonna critic your photos and give you suggestions to improve your results.
Our goal is to reach the alpine lake of Tymfi (aka Dragonlake) before sunset so we can capture the views from one of the most breathtaking places in Greece. It's also the perfect time for you to scout the place and find interesting composition. We'll guide you of course though the best compositions.
Tip: We highly recommend to bring a food container so that you can carry dinner at the lake.
12/7 Hike down & say goodbye
We'll leave the hut around 10am and hike down (~2.5h) following the exact same path.

The Dragonlake of Tymfi (2050m) is a favourite destination for nature lovers and photographers. Its combination with the alpine landscape and the night sky creates unique photographic opportunities. During the workshop, participants will learn how to photograph the night sky, plan astrophotography targets, and practice advanced shooting techniques under real mountain conditions.

Private rooms. If you don’t agree to stay in a hut common dormitory, unfortunately there is no other solution.

I don’t want to stay in shared rooms. Can you arrange something to fit my needs?
As we stated, we are not a travel company, if sharing a room is too difficult for you, you can arrange a different accommodation. A part of your accommodation expenses will be held as administrative fees.
Can I participate in only a part of the trip?
This is not possible due to logistics, booking accommodations and cars. Subsequently, the full ticket must be paid.
I want to bring a friend/relative with me, but he/she isn’t a photographer. Should he pay?
Your friend would eventually be a part of our group, so yes, the full ticket must be paid.
Is there a difference between a workshop and a tour?
Yes, workshops are designed for people who also want to learn some fundamental and expand their knowledge in astrophotography. Tours are suitable for people who have already a good grasp on astro and just want to visit beautiful places to photograph. For that reason, workshops tend to be more expensive.
Are we alone in the universe?
We sincerely hope not.
We are not a travel agency. We simply assist with bookings and provide photography advice.
Participants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of the tour.
Participants are required to bring all mandatory equipment listed on the tour page. This is necessary for personal safety and the smooth execution of the activity. The organizers reserve the right to deny participation to anyone who does not have the required equipment, if this may compromise safety or the group experience.

The participants should pay the rest of their ticket by the 10th of June 2025. If not, the hosts have the right to remove the participant.
The participant has the full responsibility to judge whether he/she can participate in the tour without compromising his/her health, as well as to ensure that he/she will not endanger his/her physical integrity or that of the other participants. For this reason, the hosts are not responsible for the cancellation of the trip or change of planning for this reason. Also in case, the participant is in danger of either injury, loss of body part, or life itself, the responsibility of the organizer is limited to the correct preparation and correct decision/choice/change of design, and the provision of instructions to ensure as much as possible physical integrity and mental and spiritual health of the participants.
The participant is responsible and accountable for the honest statement of his health status, acknowledges and accepts that the hosts are not responsible for injuries or health problems that existed before, as well as for any burden that may be suffered by his/her health condition, from his/her participation in the activity. In case the participant due to a false or insufficient declaration of health status or unavailability (due to his/her fault) of the equipment required so that he/she can not cope with the planning of the trip/activity, the hosts have the right to remove the participant from the activity, with the sole obligation to ensure a safe return and to call for rescue assistance, if and when needed. The cost of the rescue is paid solely by the participant. In case he/she puts the whole team or another member at risk due to false or inadequate health status or problems, he/she has the sole responsibility for any financial claim or any legal decision taken by the other members.
The organizers reserve the right to modify the program unilaterally.
The invoice/receipt will be issued after the end of the tour.
Participants acknowledge that outdoor activities, even of low difficulty, involve inherent risks such as uneven terrain, darkness, weather conditions, and natural obstacles. Each participant is responsible for assessing their own physical and mental condition and ensuring they are able to safely take part in the activity.The organizers are responsible for planning and conducting the activity with reasonable care, providing instructions, and making decisions in the interest of group safety. However, the organizers are not liable for injuries, accidents, or damages resulting from risks inherent to outdoor environments, or from a participant’s failure to follow instructions.
Participants must honestly disclose any health conditions that may affect their ability to safely participate. By joining the tour, participants confirm they are physically and mentally fit for this type of activity. The organizers are not responsible for medical issues or injuries arising from pre-existing conditions or from undisclosed health information. If a participant is unable to continue due to health reasons, lack of required equipment, or behavior that compromises safety, the organizers reserve the right to remove them from the activity. In such cases, the organizers’ responsibility is limited to assisting with safe return where reasonably possible and contacting emergency services if necessary. Any related costs (e.g. rescue, transport) are the participant’s responsibility.
The organizers reserve the right to modify the program, schedule, or locations if necessary due to weather, safety concerns, local regulations, or other circumstances beyond their control. Any changes will aim to preserve the overall nature and quality of the experience.
An invoice or receipt will be issued after the completion of the tour for the total amount paid.
Official updates from the organizers will be sent via email (info@starlight-adventures.com) and/or the group chat.
Cancellations must be requested via email. A cancellation is considered valid only after you receive written confirmation from the organizers.
“Remaining amount” refers to the total tour price minus any non-refundable costs already paid on the participant’s behalf (e.g. accommodation, permits, hut fees).
In case of cancellation within the last 48 hours due to exceptional circumstances, the organizers reserve the right to retain documented, non-refundable expenses already incurred.
The tour will take place only if a minimum of 1 participants is reached. If this number is not met, all payments will be refunded minus the non-refundable expenses.
